How dare you?
In 1982, I witnessed Vicki Lawrence and Mama, who were amazing.
"How can you take my money and sleep at night?" was my only thought in 2026.
You never know who to believe, I've read anything from 5 star reviews, to 1 star reviews. That being said, heed my words, don't go. If you decide to spend your hard earned money to see this show, you won't be able to blame me for not warning you.
The bass player, two guitar players, slide guitar player, keyboard/flute player, and drummer are all excellent musicians. Real professionals, giving it their all. However, you could tell by watching them that even they are embarrassed by this sham of a performance by "brother Doug." For them, it's a paycheck, and as a working man, I can relate. But you can tell that they don't feel good about the product "Marshall Tucker" is putting out.
Doug Gray, once upon a time, was a great singer. He no longer is, and that is just the hard reality of life. Nothing personal, I have spent many an hour listening to Doug and am grateful for his talent. But he owes it to himself, and to his fans, to stop taking their money. He can no longer perform and needs to retire. If he needs money, then he should earn it honestly, and not by trading on the Marshall Tucker name.
I am sorry I went. And even though it was a colossal waste of money, that is not why. I am sorry because up until now, the name "Marshall Tucker" always brought a smile to my face, and fond memories of great music. Now those memories have been irrevocably tainted. And that is a shame.
